The convergence of HR and social media

It’s 2015, and the primary means of sharing information has, without a doubt, become social media. But just as it’s easy for us to share through social, it’s also easy for businesses to connect with colleagues and current/prospective employees.

That’s why it’s important for HR departments to realize how social media can be incorporated into the overseeing of internal and external communications:

The Cheel’s Turret

The Cheel restaurant in Thiensville has a new feature on the exterior of the Queen Ann-style building, which was built in the 1890s. A turret, which includes a bronze eagle handmade by Thiensville artist Allen Caucutt and sculptor Tom Queoff, was recently added to the building. Jesse and Barkha Daily bought the three-story, 1,600-square-foot building in 2013, renovated it and opened The Cheel, a Himalayan-flavored restaurant, last year. Cheel is a Nepalese word for eagle.

Organize your affairs to avoid the post-death scavenger hunt

Executing a will or a trust to dispose or administer assets after death can be sound planning, but it is not complete planning. Where is everything? Who should be contacted? What does this strange key open?

Thorough planning should include an organized guide for your spouse, child or any other person responsible for collecting assets, paying bills or making distributions for your beneficiaries.

Making running a social affair

Patrick Bieser, president and founder of Shorewood-based Northwoods Software Development Inc., does more than run his own company.

He runs approximately 40 miles a week, and is the president of the Milwaukee Running Group – OMG, an organization that celebrated its one-year anniversary on Sept. 1. (OMG stands for the Original Milwaukee Running Group; the “R” is silent.)

“There's other running groups in the area that are much larger than us, but they don't have a friend basis,” Bieser said. “Ours is friends and fun and social on equal parts with running.”
