Though the housing market has gone through its share of ups and downs in recent years, when it comes to attitudes regarding homeownership, there appears to be one constant for most Americans. They still consider that owning a home is very much a part of the American Dream.

A homeownership rally uniting concerned community members with elected officials will take place Tuesday, Oct. 2, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at O'Donnell Park in Milwaukee, 910 E. Michigan Street. Sponsored by the Metropolitan Builders Association, the Wisconsin Builders Association, and the National Association of Home Builders, the Rally for Home ownership will draw attention to significant housing issues in the face of the Nov. 6 Presidential elections.

While Batzner Pest Management, a pest control company based in New Berlin, will celebrate National Customer Service Week from Oct. 1 to Oct. 5 with a staff cookout and office games, the highlight of the week rests with its annual Madagascar Hissing Cockroach race set for Tuesday, Oct. 2.

Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett has declared Monday, Oct. 1, as Food For Families Day to kick off the Hunger Task Force's annual Food For Families campaign, which collects non-perishable food items throughout the holidays for Milwaukee-area families in need.
