A homeownership rally uniting concerned community members with elected officials will take place Tuesday, Oct. 2, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at O’Donnell Park in Milwaukee, 910 E. Michigan Street. Sponsored by the Metropolitan Builders Association, the Wisconsin Builders Association, and the National Association of Home Builders, the Rally for Home ownership will draw attention to significant housing issues in the face of the Nov. 6 Presidential elections.
Organizers will emphasize the need for elected officials to help protect the mortgage interest deduction, ensure credit-conscious consumers and small businesses have access to mortgages and loans, and find a solution to the foreclosure crisis.
The rally is open to the public and will offer a petition drive as an additional initiative to garner support for keeping the mortgage interest deduction intact, increasing access to credit and slowing the rate of foreclosures.
Speakers at the rally will include Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, Wisconsin Senate candidate Tommy Thompson, LISC Milwaukee Board of Directors Chair Cathie Madden, MMAC Business Council Executive Director Carla Cross, and Property Vets representative Sue Loomans.
