Wisconsin unemployment rate held steady in April

While there may be plenty of signs of economic trouble in other areas, Wisconsin’s job market showed few if any signs of weakening in the latest data released by the state Department of Workforce Development.

Four local companies make it to final round of Governor’s Business Plan Contest

Over 200 entries have been narrowed down to 13 finalists in the annual Wisconsin Governor’s Business Plan Contest. Four of those 13 companies are from southeastern Wisconsin. They include Milwaukee-based Rapid Radicals Technology, Brookfield-based ContraDoc Inc., Milwaukee-based My Hearing Care and Fontana-based Reinventauctions.com.

NVNG launches online, statewide database of startups to increase national exposure

Madison-based NVNG Investment Advisors has launched an online database that aims to encapsulate all of the state’s startups. Called +Venture Wisconsin, the database was created to increase exposure of Wisconsin companies to national and international venture capital communities.

Historic home on Milwaukee’s East Side sells for more than $2 million

The 127-year-old Jackson Kemper House at 2006 E. Lafayette Place in the North Point South Historic District on Milwaukee's East Side has been sold for $2.08 million.
