Third Ward Kimpton to be named The Journeyman

Hotel will open in June

When the Kimpton Hotel opens its first Milwaukee location in June, it will be named The Kimpton Journeyman.

The name pays homage to the people who spent years honing their craft and then returned home after traveling the world, according to San Francisco-based Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants.

The 158-room, eight-story hotel at the northeast corner of Broadway and Chicago Street in the Historic Third Ward, will be managed by Patrick Gaskin, who has worked at several Kimpton properties, including The Palomar Phoenix, The Solamar in San Diego and the Amara Resort & Spa in Sedona.

Mary Kruse has been named the director of sales and marketing. Kruse was most recently the director sales and catering at Hotel Northland in Green Bay. She also spent time at the Blue Harbor Resort & Spa in Sheboygan.

The Journeyman will will feature more than 7,000- square- feet of meeting and event space, a ground-floor restaurant and adjacent café as well as an eighth floor rooftop bar and lounge.

The project was developed by Milwaukee-based HKS Holdings LLC, designed by Kahler Slater Architects and constructed by CD Smith Construction.
