Zimmerman Architectural Studios Inc., of Milwaukee, promoted both Mark Wershay and Scott Gosnell to vice president. Wershay has worked for the firm since 1997 and has largely focused on serving as project manager for K-12, higher education and training center structures. He also was project manager for major improvements on Henry Maier Festival Park and managed the firm's award-winning renovation of a former power plant in the Menomonee River Valley to its new "City Lights" headquarters. Gosnell has worked for Zimmerman for 12 years. He has been responsible for many of the firm's health care and hospitality projects.

InterContinental Milwaukee


InterContinental Milwaukee's banquet captain, Maxwell Graham, was recently honored with the Wisconsin Hotel & Lodging Association's 2014 Spirit of Hospitality award, which highlights individuals who are committed to excellence in hospitality. Graham has worked for InterContinental Milwaukee for about three years. In his role as banquet captain, he manages food service staff and promotes quality service among all team members. Graham was recognized during a Nov. 3 luncheon held during the Wisconsin Lodging Conference. InterContinental Milwaukee is owned and managed by Marcus Hotels & Resorts, a division of Milwaukee-based The Marcus Corp.

Avoid the Velcro effect: Help employees find the answer themselves

As an executive coach, I often hear my clients say how difficult it is to not give advice to the employee who walks in the door anxious and acting as though they do not know what to do. I explain to them:
