Report finds ‘mixed picture’ for metro Milwaukee construction workforce

Metro Milwaukee’s construction labor market is as tight as it has been in at least 20 years, there is a generally strong pipeline of apprentices but there are opportunities to improve programs aimed at Milwaukee residents and to expand efforts to strengthen gender and racial diversity in the construction workforce, according to a new report from the Wisconsin Policy Forum.

Brady Street pedestrianization study to focus on two-block stretch

After announcing plans in September to study possible pedestrianization of the commercial corridor on Milwaukee's East Side, the Brady Street Business Improvement District is narrowing the scope of that study to focus on a two-block stretch of the street.

Aldermen grant permission to raze Mitchell Street building for new apartment development

A development proposal that would include the razing of the former Grand Department building at 1101-1113 W. Historic Mitchell St. in Milwaukee to make way for an apartment building development was granted approval by the Common Council on Tuesday morning, but not without a qualifier.
