Zilber to announce neighborhood initiative details

The Zilber Family Foundation will officially announce the details of the Zilber Neighborhood Initiative this morning at the Midwest Airlines Center. Last year, Zilber Ltd., hired Susan Lloyd as senior advisor to the Zilber Family Foundation, and as leader of its neighborhood initiative plan.

The Zilber Neighborhood initiative is set up to provide $50 million in funds for community plans in ten neighborhoods and for the programs that support those neighborhoods.

Two neighborhoods, the Lindsay Heights neighborhood and the Clarke Square neighborhood, were chosen when the initiative was announced. Walnut Way Conservation Corp., and Journey House were selected as two organizations that would lead the initiative in those communities. Both organizations were given $875,000 to support the work they would do. The details of the plans will be presented to Alderman Willie Hines, Robert Donovan and James Witkowiak who represent those neighborhoods.
