Work on Wisconn Valley Way to begin next week

$16.9 million project awarded to Medford contractor

Crews will begin work next week on Wisconn Valley Way, a new four-lane road connecting Highway 11 and Highway KR just west of Foxconn Technology Group’s planned manufacturing campus in Mount Pleasant, state and local officials announced Tuesday.

Medford-based contractor James Peterson and Sons was a awarded a $16.9 million contract to build the road.

The four-lane urban arterial roadway with a raised median will also leave space for a future shared-use path. A new traffic signal will also be installed at Braun Road.

Brett Wallace, state Department of Transportation director, said the road would provide safe and efficient traffic operations in the area around Foxconn’s development while also preserving the function of the existing I-94 East Frontage Road.

Officials expect to open the new road to traffic by the end of the year with some work continuing into 2020.
