Waukesha Meijer store to open Aug. 2

Store will create 280 jobs

Grand Rapids-based supercenter retailer Meijer will open its sixth Wisconsin store in Waukesha on Aug. 2.

The Meijer store in Oak Creek that opened in 2015.

The Waukesha store, 801 E. Sunset Drive, is the second Meijer store opening this year. The Sussex store opened in June.

The Waukesha store will employ 280 people. To celebrate the opening, Meijer will donate $25,000 to the City of Waukesha to help fund improvements at the Les Paul Performance Center, Cutler Park and the Waukesha Public Library.

Meijer opened its first two Wisconsin stores in June 2015 in Grafton and Kenosha.

It has since opened stores in Oak Creek, Wauwatosa and Sussex. A store is planned in Greenfield in 2017 and Meijer plans to open a store in West Bend and Sheboygan.
