Gov. Scott Walker has been named commencement speaker of Concordia University Wisconsin’s spring graduation ceremony, to be held the evening of Friday, May 16.
“The governor’s presence on campus will be wonderful affirmation to those whose advanced education experience at CUW will help them to have a positive impact on the lives of others throughout the state, across the country, and around the world,” said Rev. Dr. Patrick T. Ferry, president of CUW, a Lutheran-affiliated institution located in Mequon.
Among the graduates celebrating on Friday evening will be the university’s first class of School of Pharmacy students, who started the program in 2010. More than 60 students are affiliated with that class.
The ceremony will begin at 6 p.m. in CUW’s Field House. CUW’s campus is located at 12800 N. Lake Shore Dr.
During a separate undergraduate graduation ceremony on Saturday, May 17, Dr. Normal Sell will deliver the commencement speech. Sell previously served as the treasurer of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. That ceremony is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. in CUW’s Field House.
