UW-Whitewater students tops ion the nation on CPA exam

Accounting students at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater are continuing to beat the odds on the Uniform Certified Public Accounting exam with another top ranking in first-time passage rates.
In the most recently released rankings, UW-Whitewater rated No. 1 in the nation in first-time passage of the CPA in May 2001.
UW-Whitewater passed 45.5% of students taking the exam, topping the second-ranked University of Northern Iowa, which passed 41.9%. The national average for first-time passage is about 15%.
"This is a team achievement, and the students play a huge part in our success," said Robert Gruber, chair of the Whitewater accounting program. "Our accounting students are goal-oriented and are motivated to work hard and do well."
Whitewater also ranks No. 1 in the nation over the last 10 years in the percentage of students achieving first-time passage of the uniform exam.
From 1991 to 2001, UW-Whitewater has appeared in NASBA’s top 10 listing of undergraduate programs 14 times.
