The restaurant applied for a license with the city Wednesday to open at Eleven25 on Aug. 1.

“Today, we tested a new gyro pizza for the new location at Eleven 25 at Pabst,” according to a post on the restaurant’s Facebook page. “We’re opening August 1st, and we will have GYROS!!!”

Upper Crust’s original location is at 249 E. Hampton Road. The restaurant operators could not immediately be reached for comment.

The student apartments will open this fall at 1125 N. Ninth St., serving students who attend Marquette University, Milwaukee School of Engineering, Milwaukee Area Technical College and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

The former Pabst Brewing Co.’s bottling house will feature 440 beds in 151 units on three floors in a mix of one-to four-bedroom apartments.

It will also have a food court with up to five restaurants, said Michael Kelly, executive vice president at Blue Ribbon Management, who is developing the project.

Kelly would not comment on any of the other retail tenants planned for the space, or even confirm Upper Crust.

He also would not comment on how leasing at the apartment complex is going or give an opening date.
