What has fueled your company’s growth?: “We’ve made some good strategic investments early, like building our own data center at the end of 2011. This allowed us to ramp up our managed services and hosting business about the same time that businesses realized the high cost of rebuilding their own data centers was maybe not the best investment. We also do a good job of hiring great people. We’re technologists, but we have a team that is business-savvy and possesses good communication skills.”

What is the biggest obstacle to your company’s growth?: “We still feel that the economy hasn’t fully recovered so we’re constantly evaluating hiring more staff and increasing our client base while still providing the level of service that our clients have come to expect from Transcendent. It’s a tough balancing act, but typically when we find good people we hire them and figure out the rest later. Great talent is still something that is hard to find.”

Do you plan any changes in your company in the upcoming months?: “We continue to build our managed services and hosting business. We had looked at expanding that business earlier this year, but it fell through at the last minute. We think there is plenty of growth in that area and it wouldn’t surprise me if we found another opportunity to expand that business.”

Who are the business people, locally or nationally, whom you admire? And what traits do those people exhibit that make you admire them?: “Coming from Artisan Partners, I really liked the way they were focused on their core competencies. We really took that lesson and applied it to Transcendent and tried not to deviate from our long term strategy or let little bumps in the road change our goals.”

What is the outlook for the business conditions of your industry over the next several months?: “We remain optimistic that conditions will continue to improve in the second half of this year. We’re starting to see signs of companies investing in the newest storage solutions and unified communications to help with their growth.”

What is your company’s most important growth strategy right now?: “It’s really based on a couple of things, our continued focus on SharePoint which is becoming a standard in most companies, our growth on the infrastructure side including storage, unified communications, and our managed services and hosting capabilities.”
