Trader Joe’s considers Bluemound Road location

Trader Joe’s, the popular Monrovia, Calif-based specialty grocery store chain, is considering plans to add a location along Bluemound Road in Brookfield, according to commercial real estate sources.
“They are very interested in (the Brookfield) market,” one commercial real estate source said.
A Trader Joe’s spokesperson declined to comment and said the company would not comment about a new location until the deal is “set in stone.”
In the Milwaukee area, Trader Joe’s is represented by Mid-America Real Estate Group. Mid-America principal Dan Cohen declined to comment for this story.
Trader Joe’s currently has about 350 locations in 25 states, but only two locations in Wisconsin, one at Bayshore Town Center in Glendale and the other in Madison.
One commercial real estate source said that Trader Joe’s is considering plans to open a store at Brookfield Fashion Center, located northwest of Bluemound Road and Thomas Lane. Trader Joe’s has discussed plans for a possible store at Brookfield Fashion Center with Chicago-based Urban Retail Properties LLC, the shopping center’s owner, according to the source.
Brookfield Fashion Center is a 212,814-square-foot shopping center built in 1986. Its tenants include: Stein Mart, JoAnn Fabrics, David’s Bridal, Pier 1 Imports, Starbucks and Ulta Cosmetics and Fragrances.
