Summerfest donates nearly $70,000 to Ronald McDonald House

Milwaukee World Festival, Inc. recently presented Ronald McDonald House Charities of Eastern Wisconsin, Inc., a check from the proceeds of the inaugural Summerfest Rock ‘n Sole Half Marathon and 10K Run held this summer.

Milwaukee World Festival, Inc. recently presented Ronald McDonald House Charities of Eastern Wisconsin, Inc., a check for $67,033.42 from the proceeds from the inaugural Summerfest Rock ‘n Sole Half Marathon and 10K Run held this summer.
“Milwaukee World Festival, Inc. is pleased to contribute to and support the efforts of the Ronald McDonald House as they work to help families in need throughout our community and beyond,” said Dan Minahan, chairman of the Board of Directors, Milwaukee World Festival, Inc.
The Summerfest Rock ‘n Sole Run took place on the closing day of Summerfest 2011 and allowed participants to run over the Hoan Bridge.  A total of 6,567 runners from across the world participated in the race.
Since their doors opened in 1984, more than 32,000 families from around the world have called the Ronald McDonald House in Milwaukee home.  Last year, the RMHC served nearly 1,400 families.
“The Ronald McDonald House is proud to be a partner of the Summerfest Rock ‘n Sole Run and appreciates the contribution it has provided and help in bringing attention to our mission of providing comfort for families that are facing very challenging circumstances,” said Lynda Kohler, president of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Eastern Wisconsin, Inc.
Race logistics and operations for Next year’s Rock ‘n Sole Run, which will be held on Saturday, June 23 at 7 a.m., will be handled by Vision Event Management.
“The Summerfest Rock ‘n Sole Run is committed to providing a first-class event that our participants expect and deserve,” said Don Smiley, president and CEO of Milwaukee World Festival, Inc.  “After significant evaluation of every aspect of the inaugural race and interviews with qualified race directors, we selected Vision Event Management to plan and execute the 2012 Rock ‘n Sole.  Their proven track record of operating successful running events nationally, coupled with their focus on quality and passion for the sport, positioned them as the top organization to accomplish our goals.”
Vision Event Management is currently reviewing all aspects of the race plan, including the race course and working to improve on last year’s event.
