South Koreans to pay $348 million for Loop office tower

    John Buck Co. is teaming up with South Korean investors to buy a 50-story Loop office tower, continuing the Asian nation’s aggressive push into U.S. real estate.

    ith the Chicago-based developer as its local operating partner, the syndicate of South Korean institutional investors has agreed to pay about $348 million, or $325 per square foot, for the 1.1-million-square-foot high-rise at 161 N. Clark St., sources said. The joint venture is buying the building, best known as the former headquarters of Chicago Title & Trust Co., from New York-based Tishman Speyer Properties L.P.
