Senior apartment development moving forward at Pabst brewery

Los Angeles-based United Housing and Community Services Corp. and Improved Living Foundation Inc. are moving forward with plans for a 127-unit senior apartment development at the former Pabst Brewery in downtown Milwaukee.

The developers are seeking $37 million in tax exempt bonds through the city of Milwaukee’s Redevelopment Authority, which will review the request on Thursday.

The development would be built in the former Malt House and Malt Elevator buildings, located southeast of Juneau Avenue and North 10th Street, just south of the Brewhouse Inn & Suites hotel that is under construction.

The 6.5-story Malt House building has 138,386 square feet of space and the six-level Malt Elevator building has about 5,400 square feet of space.

The senior housing development for the buildings was first proposed in 2011.
