Grafton-based SEEK Careers/Staffing Inc. has acquired Montu Staffing Solutions, a Minnesota temp agency, for $2 million. The transaction closed Jan. 4.
Montu has three offices, in Columbia Heights, Hopkins and West St. Paul, Minnesota, all of which will remain open. It has about 10 employees, six of whom are being retained by SEEK. Carol Schneider, chief executive officer of SEEK, said she plans to hire another six employees at the Montu offices.
Schneider said the acquisition opportunity came up as she was seeking to open a new SEEK office in the market.
“I was looking to establish an organic St. Paul office because we have an office in Eagan and we have one in Hudson, so I was looking for something in between,” Schneider said. “I was driving all over St. Paul initially, just looking for space to establish an office.”
SEEK Careers/Staffing now has 21 offices, and about 150 staff employees.
SEEK Careers/Staffing’s sister company SEEK Professionals last year acquired Edina, Minnesota-based Career Professionals Inc. The firm has worked to strategically expand its Minneapolis/St. Paul market share in recent years.
“You could say that I’m a serial entrepreneur and I just like getting new offices going. It’s fun for me,” Schneider said.
