Scaled down redevelopment planned for former Dover Street School

Learn more about:

Milwaukee-based Maures Development Group LLC and CommonBond Communities have submitted a scaled-down redevelopment propsol for the former Dover Street School site at 619 E. Dover St. in the city’s Bay View neighborhood.

The proposal calls for redevelopment of the former school building into 43 residential units and a pair of two-story townhouse style buildings, one a 13-unit building along Dover Street and the other a 19-unit building along Potter Avenue. The project has a total of 75 residential units and 96 parking spaces.

The developers originally submitted plans for a 90-unit development for the site, but several neighbors opposed the plans and expressed concerned about the density of the project.

The residential units will be targeted to teachers, using the Teach Town concept that provides a support system for mentoring, networking and idea exchanges between educators.
