Scaffidi to run for mayor of Oak Creek

    Oak Creek Alderman Steve Scaffidi plans to run for mayor of the city in the April 3, 2012 election.
    Scaffidi said he has the experience and qualifications to become the next mayor of Oak Creek and will file the necessary paperwork to get on the ballot.
    Current Mayor Dick Bolender has said he is still undecided about whether he will seek a fourth term in office. Scaffidi said will run for mayor, regardless of Bolender’s decision.
    Today is the first day mayoral candidates can begin circulating nomination papers. To be on the ballot, all candidate paperwork must be turned by Jan. 3 at by 5 p.m.
    If three or more candidates turn in papers, a primary would be held Feb. 21.
    Scaffidi has been an alderman for the past four years and has been involved in several civic groups, including the Oak Creek Alumni Club and the Oak Creek Community Center. He works for the media research company Nielsen.
