Remodeled Mayfair Mall Boston Store reopens

Organizations:

The remodel includes a revamped layout, new bathrooms and fitting rooms, energy-efficient lighting, in-store wi-fi access, 30 new designer brands, 25 new shop installations, a wider array of merchandise and open self-serve cosmetics stations.

Bon-Ton, which has dual headquarters in Milwaukee and York, Pa., operates 270 stores nationwide under the regional Bon-Ton, Bergner’s, Boston Store, Carson’s, Elder-Beerman, Herberger’s and Younkers nameplates. As part of its ongoing renovation of its Boston Store locations, the company has introduced a new tagline: “Your Store. Your Style.”

“We are all about style,” said Kathryn Bufano, president and chief executive officer of The Bon-Ton Stores. “Every product and every customer experience must reflect a sense of style that is current, tasteful, unique and inspiring. Our vision is to be the best hometown department store, for the family, for the home, for generations.”

Bon-Ton in 2012 completed a substantial remodeling of its Southridge Mall Boston Store in Greendale. The company in July sold its Boston Store properties at Southridge, Mayfair Mall, and at Bayshore Town Center in Glendale to a real estate investment trust of New York-based W.P. Carey Inc.

Bon-Ton has struggled in recent quarters. In the second quarter, it widened its net loss to $39.6 million, or $2.01 per share.
