HSA Commercial and Innovative Capital Advisors Equity Fund plan to renovate and expand the Plaza 173 shopping center at Bluemound and Calhoun roads in Brookfield.

HSA and ICA bought the shopping center, built in 1969, last year.

They plan to do a dramatic renovation and will add 16,000 square feet. It will have a total of 108,000 square feet of space when complete. Construction is expected to begin next spring and be complete in 2016.

Fresh Thyme Farmers Market, an organic grocery store chain, will open a 31,000-square-foot store at Plaza 173. Kesslers Diamond Center, which occupies a free-standing outlot building, has a lease until 2022. The future of other tenants in the shopping center is uncertain, but a spokeswoman said HSA and ICA hope to retain the Men’s Warehouse store after the redevelopment project is complete.
