Commercial building planned in Muskego
John Jewell, the owner of Jewell Homes LLC and part owner of R&W Realty Company, plans to build a 4,288-square-foot commercial building at the southwest corner of Lannon Drive and Janesville Road in Muskego. The site was formerly occupied by a BP gas station. The building will have three tenant spaces, which will by occupied by Jewell’s business, Frenz Hair & Nail Salon and Destiny Chocolates.

State to expand Highway 50 in Kenosha
The state Department of Transportation plans to rebuild Highway 50 between 116th Avenue and 43rd Avenue, including expansion of the road from four to six lanes between 116th and 57th avenues. Construction is expected to begin in the fall of 2017.

Effort to raise funds for Soldiers Home signs
The Milwaukee Preservation Alliance recently announced the launch of a fundraising campaign to support the purchase and installation of Department of Transportation (DOT) signage along Interstate Highway 94 and interpretive signage along the Hank Aaron State Trail for the Milwaukee Soldiers Home National Historic Landmark District. MPA’s Wayfinding and Awareness Campaign is part of a broader effort by the organization, in partnership with the National Trust for Historic Preservation and other local preservation and veterans groups, to raise awareness of the Soldiers Home Historic District and promote the rehabilitation of key historic buildings to the service of veterans.
