Pizza Man to add location at Mayfair Collection

Pizza Man, a longtime restaurant on the East Side of Milwaukee, plans to open a second location at the Mayfair Collection development in Wauwatosa.

The original Pizza Man restaurant opened in 1970 at the northeast corner of East North and North Oakland avenues. It was destroyed in a 2010 and re-opened last year at 2597 N. Downer Ave.

Now for the first time Pizza Man will add a second location. The restaurant will be part of the first phase of the Mayfair Collection, the mixed-use development that Chicago-based HSA Commercial Real Estate is developing northeast of U.S. Highway 45 and Burleigh Street in Wauwatosa.

Pizza Man will occupy a 5,600-square-foot space next to the Corner Bakery Café, which will open on Oct. 20 at the Mayfair Collection.

Construction for the Mayfair Collection Pizza Man is expected to start in November with a grand opening scheduled for spring 2015. The restaurant will seat 200 diners and will include an outdoor patio, similar to the East Side location. The restaurant will be designed by Rinka Chung Architecture, which also designed the Downer Avenue Pizza Man space.

“I’m grateful that many of our customers have stuck with us for so many years, and especially through the re-opening of our East Side location,” said Pizza Man owner Mike Amidzich. “I’m humbled by our customers’ response, and I hope the new west side location will provide those who have moved from the East Side to the western suburbs with more of an opportunity to enjoy the Pizza Man experience.”
