Milwaukee-based Nelson Schmidt Inc. hired Brendan Kennedy as a senior copywriter in its Milwaukee office. Kennedy will be responsible for producing written communications for the agency’s clients, which include but are not limited to advertising campaigns, sales brochures and website copy. He has more than seven years of experience in business-to-consumer and business-to-business writing. He previously worked at Bader Rutter in Brookfield.

Scheibel Halaska, Milwaukee, has added Brittany Dorfner as account coordinator. Prior to joining Scheibel Halaska, Dorfner gained experience managing accounts and participating in the planning and execution of campaigns at C. Blohm & Associates Inc., where she also developed and managed social media initiatives.

Milwaukee-based social business agency, 7Summits, has added Behrooz Rezvani to its board of directors.

Architecture

Apraham Khatchadourian has joined Milwaukee-based Eppstein Uhen Architects Inc. as the higher education market leader. He comes to EUA with an extensive background in education and corporate based architecture.

Banking & Finance

Mitchell Bank has appointed Ronald Braier and Mario Costantini to its board of directors. Costantini and his wife, Cathy founded and operate La Lune Collection, a manufacturer of high end rustic furniture in Milwaukee’s Riverwest neighborhood. Braier served as the finance director for the City of Wauwatosa for more than 26 years.

North Shore Bank, Brookfield, has named Steve Voss as mortgage loan originator for the bank.

Ben Scharff has been promoted from director to managing director at Milwaukee-based Grace Matthews Inc. Over the course of his investment banking career, Scharff has advised clients globally in a broad range of industries, including chemicals, construction products and services, and general industrial businesses.

Waukesha State Bank has announced that Justin Cobb will become bank manager of its Fox Run office, located at the corner of Genesee Road and Sunset Drive in Waukesha. Since 2010, Cobb has served as bank manager of Waukesha State Bank’s Silvernail Road office.

Building & Construction

Triad Construction, West Allis, has hired Valerie Alba as project assistant. Alba has more than 18 years of project assistant experience. Kimberly Carl was also hired as an administrative assistant. She has more than 13 years of experience.

Pewaukee-based VJS Construction Services has hired Chrissa Greene as a project coordinator. Prior to joining VJS, Greene worked in retail leasing.

Metal-Era Inc., Waukesha, announced that Mike Hagadus has joined the company as its northern Illinois sales representative. He has worked with contractors and distributors in the Chicago area for more than 15 years.

Education

Mount Mary College, Milwaukee, recently added full-time faculty members Terri Jashinsky, graduate program in counseling; Melissa Kraemer Smothers, graduate program in counseling; Rachel Monaco-Wilcox, chair, Justice Department; and Kristen Roche, director of the MBA Program. Lea Rosenberg was also named director of campus ministry; Michelle Smalley was named director of advising and career development; Janet McNight was named controller; Judy Borawski was named director of graduate admissions; Rachel Gonnering, director of undergraduate admissions.

Everest College in Milwaukee has named Kelly Brennan as chair of the school’s new massage therapy program. Brennan transferred from Everest College in Burr Ridge, Ill., where she spent four years instructing massage therapy. She has nearly 15 years of professional massage therapy experience.

Health Care

Columbia St. Mary’s Community Physicians has hired Dr. Christopher Mildenberg, internal medicine; Katherine Burrows, DO internal medicine/pediatrics; Dr. Debra Daemmrich, family medicine; and Dr. Lisa Speidel, family medicine.

The Academy of General Dentistry, a professional association of more than 37,000 general dentists, announced that Dr. Terence Geary, of Wauwatosa, has received the association’s 2011 Fellowship award, and Mary Eileen Geary, of Wauwatosa, received the association’s 2011 Mastership award. The Mastership award is the highest honor available at the association.

Aurora Health Care, Milwaukee, has named John Zorbini its senior vice president and chief human resources officer. Zorbini joins Aurora from Froedtert Health, Wauwatosa, where he served as senior vice president of human resources.

Hospitality & Entertainment

Ben LaChance has been named director of player development at Potawatomi Bingo Casino, Milwaukee. LaChance most recently served as Potawatomi Bingo Casino’s senior marketing services manager.

Milwaukee-based Marcus Corp. has promoted Bruce Hoffmann to senior director of finance and assistant treasurer. Hoffmann previously served as senior vice president, finance, strategy and planning for Marcus Hotels & Resorts.

Interior Design

Building Service Inc., Milwaukee, has hired Jennifer Drake as interior designer, Brett Heikkila as workplace strategist, Amanda Krause as sales assistant, Tricia Krocka as interior designer, Brittany Luehring as interior designer and Heather Merkel as receptionist.

Legal Services

Milwaukee-based von Briesen & Roper, S.C., has added chief legal counsel of the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, Diane Welsh, to the firm as a shareholder. Welsh will chair the firm’s newly formed Government Relations and Regulatory Law Section. Immediately prior to joining the Department of Health Services, Welsh served as an assistant attorney general for the state of Wisconsin representing the state in appellate matters including before the U.S. Supreme Court. She has substantial experience in government and regulatory matters, including regulatory compliance, enforcement and litigation.

Brian Jacobs has joined Michael Best & Friedrich LLP as a member of the Intellectual Property Practice Group in the Milwaukee office. Prior to joining Michael Best, Jacobs was a law clerk at another Milwaukee-area law firm, where he researched legal issues, drafted pleadings and motions, and attended depositions. Jacobs is a 2011 graduate of Marquette University Law School.

Godfrey & Kahn, S.C also announced that attorney Jennifer Olk has been appointed chair of the Estate & Trust Section of The Milwaukee Bar Association.

Brookfield-based Groth Law Firm hired Michele Askren as a paralegal.

Milwaukee-based law firm Quarles & Brady LLP announced that Natalie Remington has been elected to serve a one-year term as president of the Association for Women Lawyers. Remington is a member of the firm’s commercial litigation group focusing her practice on trade secrets litigation, breach of contract claims and lender liability matters. The firm also announced that Nicholas Anderson has joined its Milwaukee office as an associate in the labor and employment group. Anderson practices in the firm’s labor and employment group.

Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren S.C., Milwaukee, recently named six new associates to the firm’s Milwaukee office. They include: James Burrows, litigation; Alexander Handelsman, litigation; Timothy Lecher, labor and employment; Hrishikesh Shah, employee benefits; John Tokarz, business law, and Peter Wyant, trust and estates.

Association Acumen LLC, Milwaukee, has hired Kelsey Weaver as the administration and membership coordinator for Association Acumen and three of its clients: the Society of American Travel Writers, Women in Ophthalmology and the Federation of Clinical Immunology Societies.

Oconomowoc-based ORBIS Corp. has hired Dennis Rooney as vice president of human resources. Rooney most recently served as vice president human resources at Americas Region for the Manitowoc Company.

James Young has been named logistics manager for St. Francis-based Wixon, a manufacturer of seasonings, flavors, ingredients, and consumer products for the food and beverage industry. Young has 13 years of experience in logistics and supply chain management, the last three as an independent consultant providing executive management services in business planning, operations improvement, and logistics.

Nonprofit

The YMCA of Metropolitan Milwaukee has named Jackie Kacala as the new public relations specialist in the Marketing and Communications Department. Kacala will be responsible for managing media relations for the Y and leading communications efforts in support of various Y events and programs. Prior to joining the Y, Kacala spent two years with Mueller Communications, most recently serving as an assistant account executive.

The Friends of Schlitz Audubon Nature Center Board of Directors announced that Nathan Smallwood has been appointed executive director of the Schlitz Audubon Nature Center. Smallwood will replace Elizabeth (Buffy) Cheek, who is retiring after 19 years of service to the center and its community of supporters. Smallwood comes to SANC from the Taft Museum of Art in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he has been the director of Institutional Advancement.

MRA–The Management Association, Waukesha, has hired Lisa Gilmore as manager of business partnerships. Most recently, Gilmore served as a director and senior consultant with BPI group. Gilmore has more than 20 years of leadership and talent management experience primarily concentrated in career transition consulting and business development to the position.

Paul Greenspan was recently hired as the business and facilities manager at the Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center in Whitefish Bay. Greenspan has worked for the past two years at Meridian International, a manufacturer of faucets and OEM parts. Prior to that, he owned Milwaukee Kitchen & Bath for 12 years.

Penfield Children’s Center, Milwaukee, has elected three new members to its board of directors. They include: Gregory Thornton, superintendent of Milwaukee Public Schools, John Sibson, vice president of corporate strategy at Glendale-based Johnson Controls and Michelle Mason, managing director of the Milwaukee-based American Society for Quality.

Publishing

Brookfield-based OFFPRICE, a subsidiary of Tarsus Group plc, Dublin, has hired Jamie Judkins as buyer relations coordinator. She previously worked as a lead marketing and sales associate at 212 Enterprises Inc. in Elm Grove.

Professional Organizations

The Sheboygan County Economic Development Corporation has appointed Michael Moegenburg of Acuity, to its board of directors. Moegenburg currently serves as the director of commercial lines product development at Acuity. He has been with the company since 1980.

Retail

Milwaukee-based BVEN Boutique, formerly Boutique Vieux et Nouveau, has hired Christina Freiberg as boutique manager. Freiberg previously served as graphic designer/assistant to the art department at Maple Ridge Farms in Mosinee.

Technology

New Resources Consulting, Milwaukee, has added Lamont “Monty” Beal to the firm. He will be leading NRC’s Technology Solutions Group. Beal has over a decade of experience managing, designing, developing and deploying software applications in multiple industries for organizations such as Johnson Controls, DentaQuest, Markel American Insurance, Fiserv and Bank of New York Clearing Services.
