Opioid treatment center planned on city’s near south side

The outpatient clinic is planned for 823 S. Layton Blvd.

An Arizona-based opioid addiction treatment center operator plans to open another Milwaukee-area location on the city’s near south side.

Community Medical Services is seeking to open a new outpatient center in the Mitchell Park Shopping Center, at the corner of South Layton Boulevard and West National Avenue, according to plans submitted to the city’s Board of Zoning Appeals.

It plans to occupy a one-story, 8,274-square-foot space within the shopping center at 823 S. Layton Blvd., which also includes Cricket Wireless and Family Dollar.

CMS, which is based in Scottsdale, Arizona, operates substance-use disorder and behavioral health clinics in West Allis and South Milwaukee. It also operates Premier Care, a treatment center, in Fond Du Lac, along with locations in Arizona, Alaska, Montana, North Dakota, Texas, Ohio, Michigan and Indiana.

The center expects to employ 20 people at the proposed Milwaukee location.

CMS provides outpatient opioid maintenance treatment services including medical management, group and individual counseling, case management and serious mental illness/co-occurring disorders.
