Aetna Inc. and a west suburban outpatient surgical center are battling in court over $3.4 million in bills, highlighting the growing friction between insurers and health care providers over fees.
Oak Brook Surgical Centre Inc. submitted nearly 280 claims to the insurance company between 2005 and 2010, according to a financial report by the surgical center. Aetna has paid about $341,000, or less than 10 percent of the total amount of $3.8 million billed, according to the report, which is attached to the surgical center’s complaint.
