North End gets two retail tenants

Milwaukee-based Mandel Group Inc. announced that it has signed a pair of retail tenants for its One at The North End development in the Park East corridor in downtown Milwaukee.
Gloss, a nail salon, and H&M Dry-cleaning, will lease a combined 2,300 square feet of retail space in the building, located at 1551 N. Water St. The stores are expected to open in March.
There is 8,000 square feet of retail space remaining in the 83-unit apartment building. Mandel will add a public plaza, at the corner of Water and Pleasant streets, next to the available retail space.
Eventually, Mandel Group plans to build several addition buildings in the North End development, providing a total of 500 residents and 30,000 to 50,000 square feet of retail space. The recession and credit crunch have slowed the project.
