*Friday, Sept. 5, Horizon Home Care & Hospice will hold its eighth annual “Life Lights” candlelit stroll and dinner. The event honors the memory of loved ones who have passed away and includes a fish fry, a one-mile stroll along 1,500 luminaries, a candle lighting ceremony and a special slideshow of individuals and pets who have passed. The memorial event will also feature live music. The memorial will run from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Milwaukee County Zoo, located at 10001 W. Blue Mound Road in Milwaukee. Event admission costs $25 for adults and $15 for children, and tickets will be available onsite. Tickets are also available at www.horizonhch.org/lifelights. Proceeds from the memorial will benefit Horizon’s Grief Resource Center, a free community resource that supports people through their grieving process.

*Friday, Sept. 5, Newaukee will complete its 2014 Koss Lunar Series with live music by The Delta Routine and DJ Romke at the Milwaukee Athletic Club Rooftop. The weekly music series, which Newaukee has presented in partnership with the Koss Corporation, has featured live music, a DJ, food and beverage service every Friday evening this summer. The series’ final show, free for Newaukee members, will run from 6:30 to 11 p.m. Attendees should plan to dress in business casual attire. The Milwaukee Athletic Club is located at 758 N. Broadway St. in Milwaukee. For more information on the Koss Lunar Series and its music lineup, visit www.newaukee.com.

*Friday, Sept. 12, and Saturday, Sept. 13, Milwaukee-based Paul Davis Restoration & Remodeling will hold the “Paul Davis Firefighter Challenge” to benefit Columbia St. Mary’s Regional Burn Center. The event brings together hundreds of firefighters to compete in challenges that “simulate the rigors of a firefighter’s duties and (demonstrate) the levels of fitness required to perform their daily duties,” according to the company. The event will also include a special competition among regional media outlets on Friday and a separate corporate challenge on Saturday. The challenges will take place at Milwaukee Area Technical College, located at 6665 S. Howell Ave. in Oak Creek. Event sponsorship and donation dollars will support Columbia St. Mary’s Regional Burn Center, which has been designated as the Paul Davis Charitable Fund’s 2014 charity of choice.
