New hires and promotions

Mary Elkins has been promoted to vice president information services-systems development at Mortgage Guaranty Insurance Corporation in Milwaukee. She has worked at MGIC since 1978 and previously served as applications development director.

Susan Friedrich has been named vice president information services-chief information security officer at Mortgage Guaranty Insurance Corporation in Milwaukee. She has worked at MGIC since 1979 and previously served as information security director.

Lisa Pipia has been promoted to vice president-project manager at Waterstone Mortgage Corp. in Pewaukee. She will oversee all strategic initiatives to ensure projects are completed on time and within scope. Pipia has more than 12 years of project management and marketing experience, most recently serving as project manager.

Mike McElherne has been promoted to vice president-talent acquisition at Waterstone Mortgage Corp. in Pewaukee. He will oversee all recruiting initiatives to ensure the company is consistently attracting top talent to its branches and corporate office. McElherne has more than 13 years of recruitment and sales experience, most recently serving as senior corporate recruiter.

Jim Schiller has been hired as a financial representative at Principal Financial Group’s Wisconsin Business Center in Milwaukee. He will serve his current roster of clients and new additions from the Milwaukee office of The Principal. Schiller has more than 30 years of experience working as a registered representative, most recently at Harbour Investments.

Joe Brennan has been hired as staff accountant at Cohen Fund Audit Services in Milwaukee.

John Salza has accepted a principal position at Baker Tilly Virchow Krause LLP in Milwaukee. He will work for the accounting methods tax service line.

Milwaukee-based Komisar Brady & Co. LLP has hired Angela King as an associate accountant.

Wegner CPAs, Pewaukee, has hired Steve Johannas, staff accountant, to the assurance department. Johannas will be working for Pewaukee but serving clients in all locations.

Milwaukee-based Robert W. Baird & Co. has hired Brian Skorney as a senior analyst in equity research. Skorney will concentrate on biotechnology, a sector he has studied for six years.

Waterstone Mortgage Corp., Milwaukee, hired 23 employees in December. The new employees include Clint Andrew, serving as a loan partner in the Germantown office; Dennis Brady, serving as a loan originator in the Okauchee office; Bob Kagel, serving as a chief appraiser in the Pewaukee office; and Mary Schlicht, serving as a junior underwriter in the Pewaukee office.

Wells Fargo Private Bank, Milwaukee, has appointed Thomas “T.J.” Marini Jr. senior private banker. In his new role, Marini will maintain banking relationship management to clients by providing banking, credit and access to brokerage and investment management services. He brings 15 years of experience in the financial services industry to the position.

Cleary Gull Investment Banking Group, located in Milwaukee, has promoted Ryan Olsta to managing director and Patrick Bremmer to vice president. The firm has also hired Matthew Pearson and Christopher Larsen to the investment banking team.

GSF Mortgage, Brookfield, has hired Joshua Young as a loan officer. Prior to GSF, Young served as director of youth and family ministries at a local church.

Commerce State Bank has hired John Housiaux as vice president, commercial lending in West Bend. He has more than 30 years of banking experience in the area.
