New corporate scholarship targets care management students

Organizations:

Stowell Assocates, in tandem with the UW-Milwaukee Foundation, has created a scholarship to honor the company’s 30-year anniversary and benefit social work and nursing students.

“It gives me deep personal satisfaction to establish a legacy in the form of a scholarship fund,” said Valerie Stefanich, co-founder of Stowell Associates. “Many of our nurse and social work care managers and other staff have received their degrees at UW-Milwaukee, as have I. It is good to know that this scholarship will assist a student in pursuing a career that can be personally enriching and provide valuable assistance to older and disabled members of our community.”

Stowell Associates plans to collaborate with the UW-Milwaukee Helen Bader School of Social Welfare to establish the scholarship during the first two years. The UW-Milwaukee Helen Bader School of Social Welfare will choose the first scholarship winner from its students. During the following two years, the scholarship will be given to a student in the UW-Milwaukee School of Nursing.

Along with celebrating the company’s 30th anniversary, the annual scholarship will contribute to the talent development of the next generation of care management professionals, according to Phyllis Mensh Brostoff, CEO and co-founder of Stowell Associates.

“Helping a student financially is a great way to celebrate our milestone 30 years in business and will provide ongoing reward to the community,” Mensh Brostoff said. “My hope is that we will be encouraging the next generation of social workers and nurses to join us in this specialized practice.
