Milwaukee will welcome eight of the 64 teams in the second and third rounds of the 2014 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship. Fans from all over the country will head to Milwaukee to support their teams as they look to advance to the Sweet 16.

With almost 15,000 attendees expected daily and 5,000 staying in hotel rooms, the economic impact in the city in the areas of lodging, transportation, food and beverage, retail and recreation is estimated at $4.6 million. The event will generate approximately $325,000 in tax revenue and support 1,500 jobs.

“Milwaukee is filled with sports fanatics, and we are delighted the NCAA has chosen the BMO Harris Bradley Center as a site for this year’s tournament. This is a great opportunity to showcase Milwaukee on the national sports stage,” said Brent Foerster, vice president of sales and marketing for Visit Milwaukee.
