Mount Mary College getting $1.2 million gift

Mount Mary College on Milwaukee’s west side has received a $1.2 million gift from a 1956 history graduate of the college.
Rita A. Stevens, of Brookfield, is providing the gift to Mount Mary’s capital campaign. The funds will be used for construction of science, technology and campus center. Ground has been broken for the center; construction is expected to commence within the next few months.

Stevens has been a benefactor to Mount Mary for many years, said Patricia O’Donoghue, college president. “Her generosity springs from her fond memories of Mount Mary and her lifelong belief in and dedication to women’s education,” O’Donoghue said. “Her tremendous commitment, and that of others like her, will help Mount Mary College to fulfill its mission to educate women to transform the world.”

To date, the college has raised $17.7 million in its capital campaign; 54% of contributions have come from alumnae.
