Milwaukee Small Business Week offers resources

The 2014 Milwaukee Small Business Week will be held from June 2 to June 6. The week of free events offers professional development, networking and social connections for the city’s small business community.

A kickoff “Open for Business” mixer will be held on Monday, June 2, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Jackson’s Blue Ribbon Pub, 1203 N. 10th St. in Milwaukee. The free event will offer the opportunity to network with Milwaukee entrepreneurs, government agencies and corporations.

On Tuesday, June 3, the City of Milwaukee will host a Small Business Sustainability Conference at ManpowerGroup headquarters, 100 Manpower Place in Milwaukee. The daylong conference will include breakfast, workshops, lunch and a keynote speaker, an overview of the Northwestern Mutual Campus Commons project and networking with city departments.

A Wednesday breakfast is themed “Staying in the Game-Unwritten Rules to Small Business Success.” It will be held at ManpowerGroup headquarters from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. A panel of local business owners will share their stories of success and shortcomings.

And on Friday, June 6, SBA Wisconsin will host the 29th Annual Small Business Awards Presentation Breakfast at the Italian Community Center, 631 E. Chicago St. in Milwaukee. The event will run from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. Cost is $40.
