The Milwaukee affiliate of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network will hold its “Purple Passion and Fashion” urban-inspired fashion show on Saturday, Nov. 13 from 2 to 5 p.m. at The Wherehouse, 818 S. Water St. The event was set up to raise awareness and money for pancreatic cancer research.
“It’s going to be a fun trendy, very urban-style event,” said Julie Larsen, event coordinator for the Milwaukee affiliate of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. “November is Pancreatic Cancer Awareness month, so we’re excited to bring everyone together for the show and to help support the cause.”
According to Larsen, the event was organized with a lot of help from Milwaukee area volunteers on Twitter, and came about through a collaboration with Kimberly Gomez (@impeccableimage). Many of the donations for the silent auction and even the models for the fashion show came from friends she had on the social networking website, she said.
Susan Kim of WTMJ 4 will emcee the event and guests can enjoy a silent auction, music and food courtesy of Streetza Pizza and other participating restaurants. Clothes for the fashion show are being provided by  Lucy Boutique, Urban Laundry and White Star.
Guests interested in attending can purchase tickets in advance for $30 by visiting www.pancan.org/milwaukee. Tickets will also be available at the door for $40.
