What has fueled your company’s growth?: “Millennium’s growth is primarily due to our staff and inventory. Each member of our team takes time to get to know our core customers and learn not only what they ask to buy, but what their company needs to best deliver their product and service. In doing so we have been able to stock the right inventory for our key clientele and be a consistent resource to an ever broadening group of customers.”
What is the biggest obstacle to your company’s growth?: “We have a very narrow moat in our current markets. That means we need to provide professional and personal service to each customer to retain their business and loyalty. The biggest obstacle to growth in our business is hiring enough of the right people to effectively grow the business and keep our personal approach to service.”
Do you plan any changes in your company in the upcoming months?: “Millennium is currently evaluating neighboring markets such as Indianapolis and St Louis for expansion purposes. We are focused on the original business plan to put more inventory closer to our customers. As we saturate the existing geographical markets there will be a strong push to hire quality personnel and develop operations on the edge of our current serviceable region.”
Who are the business people, locally or nationally, whom you admire? And what traits do those people exhibit that make you admire them?:“Jeff Bezos of Amazon.com. He has managed to create a culture of outstanding customer service and value in a relatively narrow moat retail industry. From the minute you place an order on Amazon your expectations are set. It’s acknowledged immediately, let’s you know when to expect the item and almost 100 percent of the time it arrives as expected. None of this would be possible without Jeff’s vision of what a consumer expects with online retail.. I admire his strength and dedication to his vision and look forward to seeing the ever changing landscape at Amazon.”
What is the outlook for the business conditions of your industry over the next several months?: “Fiber optic networks continue to expand. The requirement for more bandwidth from mobile users, cloud based business solutions and intelligent transportation systems will drive more construction and material requirements for the coming 5 to 10 years.”
What is your company’s most important growth strategy right now?: “Strategic account management. Millennium has hired industry veterans to cater to national accounts and will be working towards becoming a national distributor with one day shipping to any location in the continental United States.”
