Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Meijer Inc. recently purchased six properties totaling 21.5 acres at the southeast corner of 76th Street and Green Bay Road in Kenosha for $4.185 million, according to state records.
The company plans to build a 191,000-square-foot store on the site.
Meijer purchased a 7.9-acre site on Green Bay Road from 76th Street Kenosha LLC for $1.65 million, an 8.8-acre site at 6301 76th St. from Albert Locante for $1.1 million, a 2.1-acre site with a 1,398-square-foot home at 7811 Green Bay Road from Kenneth Davis for $485,000, a 1.1-acre site with a 1,702-square-foot home at 7741 Green Bay Road from Troy Derda for $330,000, a 1.1-acre site with a 1,702-square-foot home at 7733 Green Bay Road from Lynn Orlowski for $345,000 and a 0.5-acre site with a 1,464-square-foot home at 7729 Green Bay Road for $275,000, according to state records.
The buildings on the sites will be demolished to make way for the Meijer store. Meijer stores have large grocery departments and general merchandise offerings.
In addition to Kenosha, Meijer also plans to build stores in Oak Creek, Sussex, Grafton and Wauwatosa. The retailer also purchased the 580,000-square-foot SuperValu distribution center in Pleasant Prairie and plans to build a 245,792-square-foot addition to the facility, which it will use as a regional distribution center.
