MATC board votes to boycott Arizona

Learn more about:

The Milwaukee Area Technical College District Board passed a resolution condemning SB 1070, Arizona’s law to pursue illegal immigrants.
The resolution instructs the MATC administration to not contract with businesses located in Arizona and to not send faculty and staff to conferences in the state "until Arizona rescinds SB1070 or the law is otherwise ruled to be unenforceable" and calls on the federal government to enact federal immigration reform.
According to Christine Neumann-Ortiz, executive director of Voces de la Frontera, "MATC is the largest and most diverse technical college in Wisconsin, and, as a former migrant education coordinator for MATC, I felt it was a moment of great pride to see such resolute and principled leadership affirming the values of equality and diversity in our public schools."
