GREEN BAY – Developer ready to pitch downtown hotel idea. But will city listen?

Learn more about:

A test of political wills could be underway at Green Bay City Hall to determine the future of the downtown Clarion Hotel.

On one side, Mayor Jim Schmitt and his administration are working to salvage their deal to sell the hotel and move forward with the related KI Convention Center expansion.

On the other side, a majority of the City Council is standing firm in its effort to block that sale and promote an alternative plan that proponents say could be bigger and bolder for the city-owned hotel.
On Tuesday, neither camp showed signs of surrender.
