Learn more about:

The Historic Third Ward Association will give Milwaukee residents and visitors a special glimpse into the work of some of the region’s most talented artists with Gallery Night and Day, scheduled to run Friday, Jan. 18, and Saturday, Jan. 19.

The 26-year-old event, which is presented every quarter, offers both long-time art lovers and newer art fans an opportunity to explore 40 art galleries and venues across the city for no charge.

This season’s Gallery Night and Day will include the 11th annual “Sculptures on Ice” on Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. when sculptors will create artwork out of five foot blocks of ice in Catalano Square along Broadway and Menomonee Streets.

The weekend event will also include a free Friday Gallery Night Xpress, a five-stop route that will guide attendees from the Third Ward to East Town and back. A second Xpress bus will shuttle attendees from East Chicago Street to the Harley-Davidson Museum. Both buses will run from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday night with stops every 15 minutes.

Among this year’s art venues open for viewing are the David Barnett Gallery, the Grohmann Museum, the Milwaukee LGBT Community Center, the Art Institute of Wisconsin, Gallery 218, and the Milwaukee Public Market.
