Former Johnson Insurance CEO to lead Diversified Insurance

Organizations:

Brookfield-based Diversified Insurance Solutions has named Christian Lie chief executive officer, effective July 1. Lie was previously the president and CEO of Johnson Insurance in Racine.

Lie has almost 40 years of experience in insurance and risk management services, most recently as president of the risk services group at Diversified. He joined the firm in 2011.

Lie grew and then sold his family’s independent insurance agency to Johnson Financial Group in 2000.

Diversified is one of the largest full-service insurance brokerage firms in the state, offering employee benefits, risk management and business insurance.

Current CEO Robert Sowinski executed a long-term succession plan handing the reigns to Lie, he said. Sowinski served as president of Diversified beginning in 2001 and later added the CEO role. He will continue as vice chairman part time, where he will manage special projects, identify new business opportunities and retain his shareholder role.

“I’m pleased to be handing over the CEO position to Chris,” Sowinski said. “Chris is a proven leader who has a vision for growth that is perfect for our clients and the company.”

James McCormack and Skip Hansen founded Diversified Insurance Solutions in 1982. McCormack continues to hold the chairman role.

“Bob has successfully guided Diversified through many changes during the past 13 years,” McCormack said. “Thanks to Bob, Chris is taking over a company that’s well positioned for the future. I’m confident we’ll continue to grow and thrive under Chris’ strong leadership.”
