Ferris wheel takes over ACUITY’s center galleria

A 45-foot Ferris wheel is being assembled inside ACUITY’s corporate headquarters in Sheboygan in preparation for the company’s “Cirque du NICU,” a fundraiser to be hosted by the property and casualty insurer on Oct. 13.

The fundraiser will collect proceeds for the Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center’s Level 11b Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

The Ferris wheel is a 1950s vintage “Big Eli” model that is assembled with small, easy to move parts. The attraction came from the Eli Bridge Company in Illinois.

In constructing the Ferris wheel, workers had to remove a large window to bring the components inside and piece together each part by hand.

The carnival-themed fundraiser will also include circus acts, games, food, music and an appearance by actor and writer John McGivern. Attendees must be invited.

For more information about the fundraiser, available sponsorships and receiving an invitation contact Jean McMurray at 920-451-5539 or jean.mcmurray@aurora.org.
