Extras needed for Milwaukee-made movie

Film Freed, a nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening the Milwaukee community through filmmaking, is in search of extras for its first production, a romantic comedy titled “Serial Daters Anonymous.”

The movie is being filmed at landmarks throughout Milwaukee and follows the storyline of a fashion columnist who “goes on a retaliatory dating streak” after realizing her fiancé cheated on her. While the columnist aims to “avenge the city’s women” through her dating streak, she ultimately finds love during the process.

Extras are needed for a scene being filmed at 8 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 15, at Oak Lounge, located at 231 E. Buffalo St. in Milwaukee. The scene will require extras dressed in bar and club wear.

Extras are also needed on Monday, Sept. 16, for a wedding scene being filmed at 7 a.m. at Memorial Lutheran Church, located at 7701 N. Green Bay Rd. in Glendale. Interested participants should plan to wear clothes that would suit a wedding ceremony.

Additional extras are needed on Monday for a 5 p.m. wedding rehearsal dinner scene taking place at InterContinental Milwaukee, located at 139 E. Kilbourn Ave. in Milwaukee.

Sam Kozel, president of Film Freed, encourages anyone interested in appearing in the film to show up to the shoot locations so long as they are not disruptive and can wear appropriate attire.

“We just work with what we have and try to make sure everyone’s happy,” Kozel said.

Participating extras should expect to stay at each shoot for several hours.

“If we lose people, we lose continuity,” Kozel said.

Kozel stressed the need for extras during the wedding and rehearsal dinner scenes. At least 100 people are needed to fill the church for the wedding scene on Monday morning.

“Serial Daters Anonymous” will likely be released in 2014. Interested extras can contact Kozel at sam@filmfreed.org for more information.
