Employment: Updates, changes and annoucements


Brookfield-based Kolb+Co.,has promoted Ron Biffel and Kyle Ferch to senior accountants; Kyle Dieringer and Vanessa Tippett, to tax seniors; LeAnne Foster to senior associate; Tom Magnor, to tax manager; Casey Malek, to auditing and accounting manager; and Jim Mieritz, to auditing and accounting senior manager. In addition, Joy Duce has been given an updated title of director of human resources and administration to reflect her permanent involvement and supervision in the administration department.

CliftonLarsonAllen, Wauwatosa, has added Marc Devries to the Milwaukee area office as a senior manager. Devries recently transferred to Milwaukee from the firm’s Greenwood Village, Colo. office. Devries joined the firm in 2006 and has 16 years of public accounting and industry experience.

Vrakas/Blum S.C., Brookfield, announced that Linda Liu and Briana Birenbaum have been promoted to tax senior. Liu has been with the firm since 2009 and Birenbaum since 2010.

Nelson Schmidt Inc., Milwaukee, has named Becky Dunton senior account executive and Kari Dunham account executive. Dunton and Dunham will work collaboratively in providing strategic guidance and day-to-day client support for the agency’s client, Alliance Laundry Systems.

Milwaukee-based 7Summits has expanded its technical team and hired Brian Poulsen, front end developer; Paul Jacobson, director of front end development; Andre Malske, senior user experience designer and Tim Mila, software engineer.

Staples Marketing, Pewaukee, has named Cathy Looze the agency’s media director. Looze has 25 years of experience in media planning and buying in Wisconsin. Previously, she worked in the media department of several local marketing agencies, developing media programs for some of the Midwest’s largest retail, education, packaged goods and health care organizations such as Roundy’s, Palermo’s Pizza, Shorewest Realtors and Blue Cross-Blue Shield United of Wisconsin.

Banking & Finance

Waterstone Mortgage Corp., Pewaukee, has added Karen Bremer, as a closer in the firm’s Pewaukee branch. She has more than 20 years of experience. Mindy Emmer also joined the Pewaukee office as a closer and has seven years of experience in the mortgage industry. Jim Konitzer was named a senior loan officer and has more than 25 years of experience.

Brookfield-based Bellwether Funding LLC has hired Katie Meisenhelder as a full-time marketing specialist and customer relations aide. Meisenhelder previously worked as an intern with the firm.

Green Bay-based Associated Bank has added to its executive team in Milwaukee. Kurt Reindl has been hired as senior vice president strategic planning manager and Steven Rodberg as vice president, portfolio manager.

Building & Construction

Milwaukee-based Inland Companies has hired Donnie Struaser as a superintendent. He has over 15 years of construction experience.

Gilbane Inc. has named Grace Redovich business development manager of the firm’s Milwaukee office. Redovich joins Gilbane from Welman Architects in Waukesha, where she previously served as director of business development.

Chambers of Commerce

Waukesha County Business Alliance has added Steven Dyer, president and CEO of Dickten Masch Plastics; Jeff Hoffman, vice president of Judson & Associates S.C.; Timothy Nettesheim, managing shareholder, Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren s.c.; and Tina Weissgerber, realtor/associate broker, Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, to its board of directors. The chairman of the board for the 2012-13 fiscal year is Emily Hepburn, vice president of human resources at Waukesha State Bank.


Professional Events and Consulting LLC, Milwaukee, has hired Molly Rasmussen as a marketing assistant and event coordinator.

Milwaukee-based New Resources Consulting has hired Patrick Desmond as director of business development and Mary Kay DeRoche as senior recruiter.

The UWM School of Continuing Education has named Jason Mueller associate outreach specialist for the Small Business Development Center, Mary Van Eerden and Pam Nellen were named associate outreach specialists for business and management. In addition, Shari Vinluan was promoted to director of the Center for Early Childhood Professional Development & Leadership at the UWM School of Continuing Education and Luke Olson was named the first assistant director of registration services at the UWM School of Continuing Education.

Concordia University Wisconsin, Mequon, has named Dr. Teri Kaul its new dean of the School of Nursing. Kaul most recently served as the chairperson of the nursing department and director of the graduate nursing program at CUW. She is also a part-time nurse practitioner at Cardinal Stritch University Student Health Services.

Alverno College, Milwaukee, has named Mary Beth Berkes, co-founding partner and retired managing director of Linden LLC, a health care and life science private equity firm headquartered in Chicago, as chair of the board of trustees for the school. She joined the Alverno College board of trustees in 2005 and has served as vice chair since 2010.

Health Care

Trauma surgeon Dr. John Weigelt has been awarded the Thomas L. Smallwood Award for Patient Care Excellence by the board of directors of Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa. Weigelt is widely published and a nationally recognized leader in trauma surgery and surgical education. He is the Medical College of Wisconsin’s chief of trauma and critical care, and serves as medical director of the joint clinical quality office of Froedtert and the Medical College in Wauwatosa. The Thomas L. Smallwood Award was established in 2003 to honor outstanding contributions to the care of patients at Froedtert Hospital.

Froedtert Health, Wauwatosa, has named Kathy McCann to the position of finance site director for Froedtert Hospital. McCann serves as a liaison between Froedtert Health’s finance department and Froedtert Hospital leadership, with a focus on communication of financial results and coordination of budgets. McCann has more than 20 years of experience in financial management at Milwaukee-area hospitals and health systems, having served most recently as director of reimbursement at Columbia St. Mary’s.

William Petasnick, who recently retired as the longstanding president and CEO of Froedtert Health System in Wauwatosa, has joined the board of directors of Erdman Company, a national health care consulting, facility planning, development, design and construction firm. Over his 19-year tenure, Froedtert Health grew to three hospitals, revenues of $1.2 billion, more than 41,500 inpatient admissions and a staff of more than 9,000.

Stanley F. Lo, Ph.D., associate professor of pathology at the Medical College of Wisconsin, Wauwatosa, has been elected president of the National Academy of Clinical Biochemistry: the Academy of the American Association for Clinical Chemistry. The American Association for Clinical Chemistry is an international society of clinical laboratory professionals, physicians, and research scientists involved with clinical chemistry. There are more than 8,000 members.

Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin has promoted Andrew Barth to director of specialty clinics and services. Barth joined Froedtert in 2006, serving initially as an administrative fellow, then moving into the director of ambulatory services role.

Dr. Siddhartha Singh, an internal medicine physician at Froedtert Hospital and associate professor of medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin, has been appointed associate chief medical officer for Froedtert Hospital and Medical College Physicians. Medical College Physicians is the adult component of the Medical College’s group practice, which provides adult care in virtually every specialty of medicine at Froedtert Hospital and at Froedtert & The Medical College Clinics.

Wauwatosa-based Froedtert Health has promoted Dana Bode, to director of operational cardiac services for Froedtert Health Heart and Vascular network. Dawn Kutz was promoted to director of business process for the Froedtert Health Heart and Vascular Network.

Hospitality & Entertainment

Executive chef Bill Doyle has been named the new executive chef at the InterContinental Hotel in downtown Milwaukee. He has nearly 25 years of culinary experience, and previously worked as the executive chef for Doubletree Hotels at the age of 25 and most recently served as the executive chef at Renaissance Tulsa Hotel & Convention Center in Tulsa, Okla., where he was responsible for managing all culinary operations for the past eight years.

Legal Services

Milwaukee-based von Briesen & Roper S.C., has promoted attorney Shay Agsten to shareholder of the firm. In addition, William Jackson was hired as an attorney in the firm’s health care practice group.

Nicole Druckrey, a partner in Quarles & Brady LLP’s Milwaukee office, was elected to serve on the board of directors of Adoption Resources Wisconsin. Druckrey practices in the firm’s Commercial Litigation Group and focuses her practice on the area of unfair trade practices. Druckrey also serves as president of the board of directors for Ebenezer Childcare Centers Inc. and recently became a member of the City of Oak Creek’s Community Development Authority.

Joseph LaDien has joined the Milwaukee office of Mallery & Zimmerman S.C. as an associate. LaDien practices with the office’s litigation group, handling complex commercial litigation matters. LaDien is president of the Milwaukee Young Lawyers Association. He has been named to the National Trial Lawyers Association Top 40 Under 40.

Jacob Manian has joined the firm of Fox, O’Neill & Shannon S.C. in Milwaukee, as an associate in its litigation practice. He was previously employed as an assistant district attorney and principal assistant corporation counsel with Milwaukee County. He will join the litigation team of Bruce O’Neill, Mike Hanrahan and Matt O’Neill, and will concentrate his practice on commercial litigation.

The Wisconsin Law Journal has named Foley & Lardner attorney Carmen Couden as one of its 2012 “Up & Coming Lawyers.” Couden, senior counsel in Foley’s Milwaukee office, regularly advises clients on high-level labor and employment matters.

Godfrey & Kahn S.C., Milwaukee, announced that shareholder Thomas Shorter has been appointed chair of the Health Law Section of the State Bar of Wisconsin. This is a one-year appointment. The State Bar of Wisconsin offers its members the opportunity to network with other lawyers who share a common interest through its 26 sections, including Health Law.

Charles David Schmidt has been named of counsel with Halloin & Murdock, S.C., Milwaukee. He will continue to represent businesses and individuals in complex insurance recovery, exclusively on behalf of policyholders, and commercial litigation.


St. Francis-based Wixon Inc., has named Michael Walters vice president of sales and marketing. He has more than 30 years of experience in sales, marketing and management in the food industry for both the national and international marketplace. In addition, Shawn Ebling has been named material analyst for Wixon.


Milwaukee Public Radio has added Jason Mohr to its member services department as a development specialist. Prior to joining WUWM, Mohr spent seven years as the development director for WMSE 91.7 FM.


Nikki Panico has been named the new executive director of the Southeast Wisconsin Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Panico has volunteered as race co-chair for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure since 2011, which raised $1.2 million and drew 19,000 participants. She has 15 years of leadership and nonprofit management experience as an administrative manager at the Medical College of Wisconsin, associate director at Senior Community Services in Philadelphia, and associate director of the Center on Age and Community at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Professional Services

Nicholas Migan has joined Chequamegon Bay Engineering Inc., Wauwatosa, as a project architect. He has over 25 years of experience in the architectural engineering industry.

Real Estate

Greywolf Partners Inc., Milwaukee, has added Jody Nelson to the property management and the brokerage division. She has more than 20 years of commercial real estate experience.

Senior Living Communities

Milwaukee senior living community Eastcastle Place has promoted Michele Dorszynski to aquatic and fitness specialist. Dorszynski joined Eastcastle Place in 2011 as a recreation specialist. Previously, she worked as the lead teacher at the Indian Community School and led an outdoor ropes and rock wall course at a facility in Oshkosh.
