Emmons is new dean of UWM’s Peck School of the Arts

Scott Emmons has been named dean of the Peck School of the Arts at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM).

 

Emmons, a professor of music education, joined the UWM faculty in 1992. He has served as interim dean of the Peck School during the 2012-13 Year of the Arts at UWM, a celebration of the Peck School’s 50th anniversary.

“Scott is a solid citizen of this university and has already demonstrated his commitment to UWM students, faculty and staff, and to the Milwaukee arts community,” said UWM Chancellor Michael Lovell. “I have every confidence in his ability to lead the Peck School of the Arts forward.”

Emmons is a clinician in the field of technology for music educators. He is one of the founders of the national New Horizons Band for Senior Adults program. Emmons has guest conducted and presented workshops throughout the United States and in Australia.

He has served as a regional representative to the Music Educators National Conference and the state council of the Wisconsin Music Educators Association.

“I’m proud of the work done by Peck School of the Arts students, faculty, and staff,” Emmons said. “The school serves as an important artistic and economic catalyst in the Milwaukee area and the state. I look forward to continuing my work with my colleagues to help the school expand on successes in art-making, arts education and entrepreneurship.”
