What has fueled your company’s growth?: “The most valuable key to our performance has been our tremendously skilled and experienced team and the relationships they have built with our clients. Understanding our core strengths and our intimate knowledge of our clients’ businesses allows us to jointly make good decisions regarding how we can bring that value to benefit them.”

What is the biggest obstacle to your company’s growth?: “As we grow, through a combination of organic growth and acquisitions, it’s vitally important to keep the consistency in the way we deliver our benefits to our customers. Therefore, our biggest challenge will be to teach and engrain our culture and the principles of action and decision-making– into our newest team members.”

Do you plan any changes in your company in the upcoming months?: We will be looking at acquiring good businesses within Wisconsin and the surrounding states that we feel bring us geographical, customer, and product line advantages. We feel that the strategies and systems we’ve put into place at Doig that have provided us strong, profitable growth can be duplicated and scaled in other organizations – thereby making a strategic alliance with DOIG attractive for business owners who are considering their succession plan alternatives or simply looking to ‘take some chips off the table.’”

Who are the business people, locally or nationally, whom you admire? And what traits do those people exhibit that make you admire them?: “The Entire DOIG Team – I am blessed every day to spend time with such a talented and dedicated group of teammates and friends. David and Charles Koch of Koch Industries – aside from successfully running the 2nd largest privately held company in the USA, they’re unafraid of being outspoken cheerleaders for capitalism and libertarian causes. It’s refreshing to see someone actually defend what has made America great. Finally, Richard Branson of the Virgin Group – his bold, forward-thinking, multi-pronged entrepreneurialism – spiced up with a sense of adventure – is an exciting way to live.”

What is the outlook for the business conditions of your industry over the next several months?: Based upon our current level of activity with our clients, we feel confident that our business will continue to strengthen. We’re finding a higher percentage of our clients are themselves growing to pre-recession levels and more importantly, most are looking for ways to gain higher levels of productivity and reduce costs.”

What is your company’s most important growth strategy right now?: “Our key focus is to continue to execute our existing strategy and to scale it up with acquisitions and geographic growth – always keeping the future needs of our customer foremost in our minds and actions.”
