Costco store planned in Pleasant Prairie

Organizations:

Issaquah, Wash.-based Costco Wholesale Corp. plans to build a store in Pleasant Prairie, according to a commercial real estate source.

Costco, the nation’s largest wholesale club retailer, has about 640 stores including locations in Grafton and Pewaukee. Both of those stores are about 150,000 square feet in size.

The company also plans to add a store in Menomonee Falls. Milwaukee-based real estate development firm Cobalt Partners announced recently that a Costco store will anchor a mixed-use development, called Whitestone Station, that it plans to build on a 65-acre former industrial site located west of the interchange of U.S. Highway 41/45 and Pilgrim Road in Menomonee Falls.

The Pleasant Prairie Costco store will be built on a vacant 17-acre site south of Highway 50 and east of St. Catherine’s Medical Center at 9555 76th St., according to the commercial real estate source. The site is within the Prairie Ridge development area.

In addition to serving Kenosha County and other parts of southeastern Wisconsin, the Pleasant Prairie Costco store could also attract customers from Illinois. The closest Illinois Costco store is located in Mettawa, Ill, which is about 22 miles south of Pleasant Prairie.
