Construction pickup helps Empire Level grow

Learn more about:

Mukwanago-based level and tool manufacturer Empire Level Mfg. Corp. is growing as construction picks up for its customers.

The company, which makes tools that are often used in home remodeling, has hired 10 new employees in the last six weeks and plans to hire 10 more over the next three months, said Mike Kinney, human resources director.
“We have been fortunate enough to participate with the general economy as it moves up,” Kinney said. “We’re directly tied to the housing industry.”
Empire Level has about 200 employees. It is hiring punch press operators, plastic injection molders, assemblers and packaging employees at its 32-acre, four-building campus in Mukwanago.
Both remodeling and new home starts have picked up in some parts of the country, Kinney said.
“Our biggest customer is Home Depot and it’s doing quite well,” he said. “We’ve recently gotten new business with Walmart.”
