Wangard Partners Inc. said it will resume construction this week of 1910 on Water, a 6-story 68-unit luxury apartment development that it is building at 1910 N. Water St. on the East Side of Milwaukee.
Construction was suspended after site excavation showed structural deficiencies in an existing stair structure built by a previous developer on the west side of the site, said Wayne Wiertzema, executive vice president of Wangard Partners.
“In practice with Wangard’s quality standards, we immediately stopped work and made design modifications to fix the structural problems with the previously built stairs,” he said. “We are pleased that we have been able to resolve the situation, and we look forward to continuing construction. Our focus now is on finishing this building to our high quality standards, and on a wonderful opening next summer.”
Wangard Partners received final approval in May from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for a loan guarantee for the project.
